This is a Porsche Boxier (987) Cayman came from Canada originally. So, it has daytime running lights/DRLs (meaning — they stay on all the time unless you turn the car off).
But the DRLs are in some other countries/regions. Then how to disable daytime running lights (DRLs).
They can be turned on and off by hooking it up by the Porsche dealer diagnostic system: Porsche PIWIS Tester II. You do not need to remove and check any fuses/connectors.
Connect Porsche tester 2 system with vehicle and run PIWIS software V12.400 (the current is the newest v15.600).
Come to “Control unit selection” program. Select “Front” control unit. Press F12 to continue.
Click “Coding/adaptations” function tab, select “Front: Daytime Running Lights coding”, press F12 to continue
Select “The width light” option and press F12
Select side lights flashes synchronously options
You will view the DRL status. Change the value from ON to OFF to disable the daytime running light.
The DRLs have been disabled.
Go back to Porsche PIWIS tester II scanner main menu to get the fault code cleared and then exit the piwis software program. Disconnect the Porsche tester.
