Possible to get Piwis 3 program work with Piwis interface tester 2

This answer for the question whether Piwis 3 diagnostic program can work with Piwis interface tester II

It may be an interesting subject, I’m sure there is some information about this out here.
The Piwis 2 interface is a lot more robust piece of equipment, compared to the cheesy and flimsy looking and feeling interface produced by Actia for Piwis 3.
Originally designed for the VW ODIS system,  the VAS 6154 VCI is quite the service needy piece. [Breaks easily] not a hard comparison to make.
Porsche went cheap on this VCI for Piwis 3. [my humble opinion, way below Porsche standard!]

There is a service from Poland and Ukraine [If I remember correctly] that can make the Samtec based Piwis 2 VCI,  to work with Piwis 3, unfortunately their charges are just as much and frankly cost prohibitive as the New Piwis 3 VCI.  2-3-4 thousand  dollars for these VCIs is simply not reasonable for small  operators. They will come down in price just like the Chinese VCIs did for all manufacturers as the markets get saturated and folks are not buying them as eagerly as in the beginning of the Piwis 3 phad.
They will get as much money as the market bares. [as much as people are willing to pay]

What is Component Protection:

Component protection is VWAG’s (VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bentley, Lamborghini) way of eliminating vehicle or component theft by keeping track of each individual component and which vehicle it’s assigned too from the assembly line.

Why do you need to do component protection:

When a component protected module is fitted to its non-original vehicle, many, if not all of its functions will be limited. This is to try and prevent the use of stolen parts in the second-hand market. If a VWAG vehicle is reported stolen, a flag will be raised with their database for the vehicle’s VIN and the internal serial number/coding of each module fitted to said vehicle, such as an Engine or transmission ECU, Infotainment/Radio unit or AC/Heater control panel) making it impossible for these parts to be used on another vehicle. This will raise an error within our diagnosis system (connected to VWAG’s servers) when trying to remove the component protection and not allow the technician to proceed, alerting VWAG to the use of stolen parts.

Component protection also applies to any brand-new parts purchased and fitted. It would need to be removed before the technician could proceed with and coding, adaptions, or basic settings or said component.

What to do for component protection?

The only way to remove component protection is to take the car to a VWAG specialist with the online diagnosis system (ODIS) or the main dealer themselves.
We have invested heavily in obtaining the credentials and correct system, to be able to provide such services so you don’t have to have the huge cost of a trip to the dealer.

Note that Use name and passwords are unique to each and every subscriber of ODIS. This is the official version and not the cloned copy VAS 5054A or VAS 6154 or VXDIAG VCX NANO… all are confirmed to work good with ODIS to do online component protection.

What is the difference between VAS 6154 and VAS 5054A ?

The different:
1. Connection method:
VAS6154A: connected via USB, WIFI
VAS5054A: connected via USB, Bluetooth
2. Vehicle list:
VAS 6154 supports VW, Audi, Skoda vehicles from 2000 year to the newest & future car models;
VAS 5054A supports VW, Audi, Seat, Skoda, Bently, Lamborghini.
3. Software compatible:
VAS-PC V19: VAS 6154 software CANNOT support it! use vas-pc v19 with VAS 5054A
ODIS: VAS 6154 only works with ODIS 3.0.3 or newer; VAS 5054A can work with odis new or old
4. Remote programming:
As for remote programming through VAS-PC software, you have to use VAS 5054A or VAS 5055 head.

The VAS 6154 cloned head only works with obdii diagnostics and online programming.
