Mercedes-Benz S350 CAN-BUS Troubleshooting with Star Diagnosis

Mercedes-Benz S350, chassis W220.

Symptom: This car is the breakdown vehicle which had been removed the whole car parts. After the repair, every time the owner start the engine and then turn off the ignition switch, the engine does not flame out and the meter lights are immortal. If the engine intake pipe is blocked and force the engine to flame out, the ignition switch can not locate in the ON position, that is, it can not go to the ignition switch. After disconnecting the battery power, the ignition switch can be turned and the engine will start, but the ignition failure remains.

Troubleshooting: First, I check with V2015.05 MB SD Connect Compact 4 and get the fault codes of DTC EIS control module and I am told that: bad ignition switch circuit 15, and the fault code can not be cleared. When I check the left front SAM, right front and rear SAM SAM and other control module, I find that the diagnostic tool can not enter the system. But data streams of EIS control module shows: 15R, 15,50, which is normal.

Now there are two main problems: first, the power control module SAM system does not work,  MB SD Connect Compact 4 Star Diagnosis can not detect the car and the fault codes can not be cleared so that the engine does not stall. When EIS control module is plugged, we use test light detect the control module circuit 15 joint EIS and find that there is still 12V power, and 15R, 50th line are normal. In principle, the 15th line is provided by the EIS control module. If I turn off the ignition switch or disconnect the plug of the EIS control module, 15th line should be 0V. So why is there 12V power on the 15th line? Obviously, this has nothing to do with the EIS control module, even if the failure rate of EIS control module is high. We continue detecting wiring diagram and find the 15th line is connected to many vehicle control modules including two fast control modules— the left anterior SAM and the right front SAM. Work to be done now is to find out which one control module or linae error provides power for the 15th line in EIS control module. According to the principle from easy to hard, I first press the plug on the left front SAM and right front SAM control module to determine whether when 15 and 15R in these two control modules plug, the ignition switch becomes normal and the engine also flame out normally. After turn off the ignition switch, we measure the left front line within SAM by multimeter and find that SAM output 12V power to the 15th line. Thus, after turning off the ignition switch, the 15th line still with 12V power results from part of the line fault in left Front SAM control module (but this does not prove that SAM control module failed).

After we check left front line of SAM, we find that when we turn off the green CAN-BUS connector, the engine can BE normally turned off and the ignition switch is also normal. In the left SAM control module, there are two CAN-BUS line connector, a group connected to the X30 / 6CAN-BUS control module, and the other is connected to the control module X30 / 5CAN-BUS. X30 / 6 connectors are located beneath the steering wheel (the top of the brake pedal) which is connected with EIS control module, the steering column module, AAC air conditioning control module, instrument cluster control module, UCP upper part of the control module, control module and the right front SAM Left Front SAM control module. Then we try our best to find the connector. We unplug the connector X30 / 6 one by one, and detect voltage with a multimeter on the CAN-BUS (the normal voltage is 0 ~ 5V). But when we check another CAN-BUS connector, fingding that the voltage is 12V while the other line is 0V. Obviously, when this one plug in, the CAN-BUS system does not work properly. When unplug the connectors, the ignition switch operation is normal. According to the circuit diagram analysis and see another Mercedes S350′s CAN-BUS connector, we are surprised to find that: when the joint X30 / 6 and X30 / 4 has a surplus CAN-BUS connector. These two joints in the factory are redundant (backup). The line voltage is 12V. These plugs can not be plugged into the X30 / 6 or X30 / 4. if they plug, CAN-BUS system is not working properly.

Finally, the 12V power connector on X30 / 6 and S30 / 4 will be unplugged and re-detect EIS control module. The fault code is no longer appeared on MB SD Connect Compact 4 diagnostic tool, and body control module on the left front SAM, right front SAM, SAM, etc. can be detected. How to fix Citroen Picasso 2009 BSI flash problem using DP3

Car information:

Error description:

DigiProg 3 has done writing the new km value by “flashing” by OBDII “reading, verifying, writing” but only until 99 %.

Now car is “dead”, no functions anymore.

Need to tell also that i forgot to put extra battery charger, so this was happen when voltage dropped and now car is “dead”

Re-write with DP3 is possible apparently, recognize BSI number (but NOT the VIN) and does automatically pick-up the saved

“flash-file” and will try to recover, BUT DP3 don’t flash anymore when arrived @ 99%….

EEprom data looks okay

Put all FF in eeprom also don’t wake up the car.

Finally solved after all I managed to “repair” it as follow:

Please firstly look at the flash dump “BSI_JC_FLASH_M00″

full of area’s with “00″, so its corrupted in my opinion.

Each time DP3 will try to restore, also as commanded in the log-file, the original flash.
But for some reason DP3 take all time the “BSI_JC_FLASH_M00” and stops at 99%.

In the MCC card/storage there is some other 992 kbyte flash with name “BSI_JC_FLASH_01″ which is the +/- SAME as “JCI_BSI_678A”

This flash is the real original flash, and the “…M00″ is the modified flash.

Now the trick is : change the name from the “01″ flash into “M00″ and the “M00″ into “01″.
Then DP3 will AGAIN try restore the flash with of course “M00″, but this time the content is the good one because i “misleaded” DP3 by changing file-names

And indeed, this time until 100%, car start and you only need to re-do the whole procedure “read, verify, write” BUT THIS TIME WITH AN EXTRA BATTERY CHARGER .

Hello I just ordered new VCM and it does not communicate with Laptop. The realteak driver is installed properly. Number 1 and 5 amber and number 3 red LEDs are on fixed they never change or blink. I bought FORD VCM II, but it doesn not work. Problem – after connection to the car it does not recognize that inigtion switch on and does not start diagnostic window. I check over internet and found that it is common problem for some not original tools, reason – IC probably broken inside the tool.

How to install ALLDATA 10.53 software?

Alldata 10.53 have launch to the market since 2014.This is the lastest version alldata software. But most of the customers don’t know how to use this software.

Today,let me introduce to you that how to install the software.

 

This is video guide for alldata 10.53.

 

Firstly ,if you pc has anti-virus software.pls close that.

and if you pc is with network,disable the network or unplug the network cable.

 

Then open the ALLDATA10.53 HDD. open the alldata file .open the file”AllData.10.53.1000.101_Install_Disk_2013.08″

Choose “set up” to install the software. Choose accept. Choose next to finish set up/

here ,you can add you company information,. I just write 1.1.1.

 

beacuse there is no new crack for 10.53.so we use 10.52 crack. The function is same. no different, it is can do new cars.

 

the car list is 2014 year. no problem to use. Open the file”AllData.10.52_Crack.only”

 

copy the file”ace”, and on the desktop. Choose”properties”, choose “open file location”

 

then paste in this file,here Choose”copy and replace”. then the software has been finish

.open the alldata, . now we add database to the alldata.

 

choose”data”,choose “device”.choose “connect”

 

here is one thing to take care. beacuse each pc has differnt letter.so you need choose

the right letter. for expalme.i put the alldata on H,so i choose “h”.if you pc myhdd is g.,you need choose g.

 

Now we need to add databse.add dm and imp.dm1 is”H:\alldata 10.53\DM01Q313″.so we choose h. and copy.and the paste.You need choose”enable data caching”

 

then we add DM. DM TOTAL has 01-16,we need add one by one,.from dm1 to dm16.

watch my step.now add imp file. it is has imp01-imp70.watch my step. also need from 01-70.one by one.

 

You must add one by one,from imp01-imp70.i skip this.you can add By yourself.

 

after all add,.check ok.So then you can free to use the software now.

 

it is has some 2014 car. but not all.choose the car. you can use the software freely.

How to update BMW ICOM Firmware

How to update BMW ICOM A+B+C and new hardware version BMW ICOM A2+B+C (item number SP168-B. not including perfect firmware BMW ICOM A2 B C item number SP168-BA):

1) When you need to update the firmware of your BMW ICOM A B C?
If your BMW ICOM firmware works normally, then DO NOT need to update. If your firmware is not compatible with your software very much, then need to update the firmware. Because every new version ICOM software will change a little. Firmware need update so that can fit the latest ICOM software perfectly.

2) Detailed steps to update the firmware BMW ICOM:
a> Use LAN cable to connect ICOM A or ICOM A2 with your laptop. Use 12V power supply or connect it with your car to provide the power for your ICOM A or ICOM A2
b> Use IE ( Internet Explorer ) to open http://169.254.92.38:60080/, user name: root, password: NZY11502
c> click “Update Firmware”, then you will see firmware update version
d> choose file “ICOM-BootImage-01-13-00.bin”, set up image type to “SYSTEM”, then click “Send the file”.
e> When it prompt “Write the image file to the flash?”, choose “YES”, then the light of the ICOM A/A2 will turn red.
f> When it prompt “The SYSTEM IMAGE update was successfull”, click “”Update Firmware””
g> Choose ICOM-ApplicationImage-01-18-00 .bin, set up image type to “APPLICATION”, click “Send the file”, it will take several minutes.
h> When it prompt “Write the image file to the flash?”, click “Yes” again, then ICOM A/A2 light will turn red on second time.
l> If everything is normally, then click “reboot”.

Attention:
Change local connection way, change it to by local connection automatically.
There are 2 update file for update. One big, one small. When use small, setup to “SYSTEM”, when use big one, setup to “APPLICATION”

Tango, VVDI, tm100 which do spare Passat dealers keys

What I want to do?
I want to get tool to do spare Passat dealers keys. I am aware lost keys is eeprom job (tango).

Car model, year, engine:
I have Zedbull and this info is from the Zedbull homepage:
PASSAT B6 SYSTEM
Pin code and CS is

You need something that can read newer ECU,s as well.
You can use low cost option ECU reader clones, and post dumps and get 6th CS and PIN. And brute force the 7th byte via original key. Maybe you can use Zedfull for this?
There are several options here. It depends how much you want to spend.
If you spend even more money than you already have done, if even your MVP is also an original item. You can get the info directly on your PC. And do the job at once.

Tools recommended by experienced users:
1)Read ecu is wrong way, exist to many diffrents manufacture and types. Read eeprom from ccm is best and most secure way that you finish job with success. Tango, AVDI or TM100 is your solution.
2)If spare key, plug MVP, read PIN code and precoding data, put the data in Tango and search for 7th byte via exisiting key. Then write component security and lock transponder. At last, go to the car and learn the precoded key. Made 2 spare keys with MVP for Passat B6 2005-06 without any problems. If you can read PIN and precoding with MVP, you will succed.
3). I pull the comfort module on every Passat now, 20 minutes beginning to end for the complete job. If the customer has a genuine (with receipt) dealer supplied key then I will code that in, I cut the supplied transponder out and use a blank transponder coded by Tango, just like if it was my supplied remote.

Last Question:
Between tango ,vvdi, tm 100 which process doesn’t need soldering iron and which has wider coverage ?

Answer:
For all of them you need read first 95320 with external programmer (xprog programmer v5.0 will do it). I make Passat ccm with clip in circuit without any problem.
